FACIAL SPASM The facial spasm involves the facial or eye muscles. The spasm is frequent and involuntary. It gets worse when the patient is nervous (under stress) and disappears when the patient falls asleep. Facial spasms happen in middle age and occur in females more often than in males. The cause of facial spasm is unknown. CHINESE MEDICAL TREATMENT: A course of treatment is one month ACUPUNCTURE: 2-3 times a week. CHINESE HERBS: Only if required. If the patient has other symptoms besides facial spasms, the doctor may prescribe some Chinese Herbs. The treatment is usually completed in one month. A more difficult case may need 2 courses of treatment.
